When it comes to cleaning your home, there are some places that are probably more top-of-mind than others. The kitchen counters, the living room rug, and the bathroom sink are all places that we tend to focus on when we’re trying to get our homes looking spick and span. However, there are some places that are often overlooked during cleaning sessions. Here are five of the most common places that people forget to clean and some tips on how to get them sparkling clean!
- Doorknobs and light switches: We touch these surfaces multiple times a day without even thinking about it. To clean them, simply wipe them down with a disinfecting wipe or a cloth dampened with soapy water.
- Remote controls: Just like doorknobs and light switches, remote controls are touched frequently and can become quite grimy over time. To clean them, remove the batteries and then wipes them down with a disinfecting wipe or a cloth dampened with soapy water.
- Keyboards and mice: If you’re using a desktop computer, your keyboard and mouse can also become quite dirty over time. To clean them, simply unplug them from your computer and wipe them down with a disinfecting wipe or a cloth dampened with soapy water.
- Window sills: These horizontal surfaces tend to collect dust quickly, so they should be dusted on a regular basis (at least once a week). A microfiber cloth or duster will do the trick nicely.
- Ceiling fans: Ceiling fans can also be dust magnets! To clean them, turn off the power at the breaker box and then lightly dust each blade with a microfiber cloth or duster. Once you’re finished dusting, turn the power back on at the breaker box and enjoy your newly cleaned ceiling fan!
